Friend and neighbor Michele (pronounced Mee KEL lay) Vaccaro is passionate about his garden and the food traditions of his native Italy and is eager to pass his knowledge along to others. As the owner of a landscaping business, Michele often shares his seeds and seedlings with his customers, encouraging them to grow the fruits and vegetables of his homeland. He invites those who are interested to make sausage and wine with him so that they can learn and carry on these traditions.Michele spends one month every year in Italy, visiting his mother and other family members and tending the 15 acre farm he owns there.He also enjoys participating in the rural traditions of his small village, returning home with photos and video of his experiences which reveal a way of life connected to the land and the past.
