Hall of Honor

The fundamentals for creating a healthy individual, a healthy society and a healthy planet begin with a reverence for growing and preparing food, an understanding of the importance of family and community, and a close connection to the earth.  The Italian Garden Project ™ Hall of Honor is a place where we recognize those individuals who have inspired us to have an appreciation for these basic tenets of food, family and the earth.  It’s a place where you, our supporters, can commemorate your own special gardener with a public tribute in recognition of how they have influenced you in carrying on the best parts of their traditions and lifestyles.  These are the women and men, past and present, who have taught us valuable lessons that enhance our lives to this day.

SUBMISSION DETAILS

For each person named in The Italian Garden Project™ Hall of Honor, we will create an online certificate with the year and place of birth (and if applicable, date deceased), where they gardened in the US, a photo of her or him, and up to 200 words of text with any other information you would like to contribute to help tell her or his story.  Some examples of information that we could publish would be: what kinds of fruits and vegetables he or she grew, how this person has inspired or influenced you, things that she or he has said will always be remembered, their or their family’s immigrant journey and integration into American life. Besides the text in the certificate you are welcome to submit additional text and photos that will be added below the certificate on a page devoted exclusively to your honoree.

Please email text and photos (in as high resolution as possible) to info@theitaliangardenproject.com.

Your gardener will be recognized on our homepage for at least one day, and then added to our Hall of Honor Gallery on the website and added to our Project’s historical archives. We hope this unique collection will eventually be housed in a national archive and/or research and educational institution.

Because it takes effort and expense to maintain our website and The Italian Garden Project™  Hall of Honor materials, we do ask for a minimum donation of $35 to add your honoree’s information and photos.  Please submit payment through our PayPal donation page or contact us at info@theitaliangardenproject.com to arrange other forms of payment.
